VARSITY COLLEGE / HIRSCHS FIRST MASTERCOOK JENNA STARR
Scrumptious
food and fierce competition! That is what this past
week was all about at Pietermaritzburg Varsity College campus, where 10 chefs started the week cooking up a
storm. The young contestants really showed dedication and talent, wowing judges
from restaurants, Hirsch’s and even celebrity Judge Ronnie Kanelelo from
Maritzburg United. With daily elimanations, there were only 3 contestants
remaining on Friday morning. With 2 hours to prepare a four course meal, Jenna.
Deevan and Sips had the judges licking their lips after each tasting. With a
long deliberation the judges returned with a winner ......... Congratulations
to Varsity college / Hirsch’s first Master Cook, Jenna Starr.
Hirsch’s
PMB supplied 5 Kitchens for the event and ensured there was a talented judge
each day on the judging panel. PRO Victoria Laubscher said that it had been an honour to be involved in
such a well organised event and organiser Lee Wansbury did a sterling job putting the event together. Hirsch’s was assisted by their suppliers, Elba,
Whirlpool, Phillips and the Gas was supplied
by Neil Freestone from Gas & General.
Commented Hirsch’s Victoria Laubscher, “Pietermaritzburg has some
great young talent and we will be watching these young chefs as they enter into
the working world. Tasha from Tasha’s fudge will be representing Hirschs in
competing against winner Jenna Starr representing Varsity College in the Hirsch
PMB store in the near future. Watch the press and do not miss this exciting
event where the Pietermaritzburg public will be able
to taste the delicious results from two fabulous chefs..... Once again Hirsch
PMB congratulates the contestants and Jenna on her
win.”
HIRSCH’S TOP IN SAMSUNG FRIDGE SALES IN AFRICA
For the last 4 years, Samsung Africa has held an African
Forum, where they invite all their dealers and partners from around Africa to
come together for the launch of their new products, and run their
marketing strategy for the coming year. The highlight of the event is a
gala dinner and awards evening, and this year the dinner was held at the
beautiful and historical Cape Town City Hall. Hirsch’s were proud and
delighted to be announced as the top company in refrigeration sales from
throughout Africa. They were also given an award for the most improved
independently owned company in sales. “We were thrilled with this achievement
as we were up against big markets in Nigeria and Kenya.” MD Richard
Hirsch told us.
