Domestics who attend the free courses offered by Hirsch Pietermaritzburg realised last week that they are half way through the course and have 6 certificates to prove it. Domestic workers attending the training sessions are drawn from many of the local B & B’s  and the 6th course  focused on Cleaning of Lounge Suites and Learning how to use the different types of vacuum cleaners. They were shown the difference between a bagless vacuum cleaner and ones that have bags. MARGARET HIRSCH MAKES DREAMS COME TRUE

Earlier this year  Business Women’s Association, South Africa’s  Business Woman of the year, Margaret Hirsch, visited her old school to distribute Dignity Packs to the girls of Russell High.  During this visit Mrs Hirsch challenged the girls to write an essay on their lives as if they were 90 years old and the winner would receive R5000. Last week Mrs Hirsch returned to the school to announce the winner. Mrs Hirsch was so impressed with the essays that she decided to award four prizes instead of just one. “The thunderous applause that resounded in the halls of Russell high for each winner was enough to bring many of the girls to tears. and it was heart warming to see how excited all the young ladies were for those who received the prizes”  said Hirsch PRO, Victoria Laubscher. The Russell High girls are  make Pietermaritzburg proud, they have a great tradition when they like something, they raise their hand in a queen like wave and it is really something to witness. The talented winners of the competition are R5000 Winner – Neliswa Palesa Khambule , R2000 Winner -  Landiwe Dlamini , R1000 Winner -  Zama Molefe and R500   Winner -  Ayanda Zuma -
